Forest City Pierogy Pocket capital finalist

Updated: Wednesday, October 8, 2008 4:18 AM EDTForest City has been named one of five finalists in the competition for Capital of the Pierogy Pocket for 2009 sponsored by Mrs. T’s Pierogies.
The winner of the title and a $10,000 prize will be selected based on the materials submitted to demonstrate a town’s pierogie pride, as well as the number of online votes received at www.pierogypocket.com. Voting will be open through Oct. 24.
Forest City is up against Binghamton, N.Y.; Buffalo, N.Y.; Elmira Heights, N.Y.; and Whiting, Ind.
This year marks Mrs. T’s Pierogies third annual search for the Capital of the Pierogy Pocket. Last year’s winner was Binghamton.
